About Mickelson Trail Affiliates
Founded in 1998, MTA was developed to help visitors find amenities along the George S. Mickelson Trail. It has since evolved into a multi-channel Black Hills information hub. We currently provide info via our website, Facebook & Instagram, and will soon be launching on YouTube.
We are an affiliation of outdoor enthusiasts who support the local economy and use of the Mickelson Trail by serving as a one-stop-resource for Black Hills & Mickelson Trail information: where to stay, eat, shop and explore.
It is our mission to promote MTA members to individuals & families who wish to experience the trail, attractions & the beauty of the Black Hills.

Mickelson Trail Affiliates Under New Ownership
Aleen Golis, founder of MTA spent two decades promoting the Mickelson Trail and businesses/amenities along its route. Her book, A Trail Guide for the Mickelson Trail, now in its 4th edition, is available for purchase.
On May 11th, Aleen passed the torch to fellow outdoor enthusiast and trail lover, Ann Cunningham (Green Owl Media & Photography) of Custer. Plans are in place to move forward with MTA’s mission to promote members to locals and visitors - and to provide valuable information to trail users - ensuring a fulfilling experience for all.
